Communications

Redundant interoperable communications systems are a critical emergency preparedness capability required of healthcare organizations and facilities. The Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Organization (VHHA) and the Eastern Virginia Heathcare Coalition work together to support and maintain several modes of interoperable communications. Information on some of these methods is provided in this section of the website. These communication methods include:

• Virginia Healthcare Alerting and Status System (VHASS)
• Amateur Radio with support from our Healthcare Anateur Radio Team (HEART)
• VHF & UHF Radio
• Fixed Satellite Phones
• 800 MHz Radio
