Michelle is the Long Term Care Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for the Eastern Virginia Healthcare Coalition (EVHC). Michelle recently retired after 37 years of distinguished state service with the Commonwealth of Virginia. Having been the Director of Human Services for the City of Chesapeake, Director of Social Services for New Kent County, and the Interim Director of Social Services for Greensville/Emporia, she also served in leadership positions with the Virginia Department of Social Services and the Department of Medical Assistance Services. She began her public service career as a police officer in Petersburg, Virginia for nearly ten years, moving on to Sussex Department of Social Services in Long Term Care for another ten years.
Michelle was raised on a farm in Spotsylvania County and owes a great deal to the role models she had in her parents and grandparents. Her work ethic, loyalty and commitment is a testament to them.
Michelle has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Human Resource Administration. She resides in Chesapeake, Virginia with her husband and cat. Michelle has a son living in Key West and a daughter living in Virginia Beach. Recently her son and daughter-in-law had a baby boy, so she is getting used to being a grandmother! She enjoys everything East Carolina University, is an avid traveler, painter, woodworker…and has a very large green thumb!
